Refining with AI: Updating & Improving Your App

Shipping V1 is just the beginning.

When Monica generates your first version, she often breaks down complex projects into stages. Alternatively, if you start with a Marketplace pre-built app, you begin with a functional structure ready to be adapted.

In either case, your V1 is the foundation—a solid starting point ready to grow.

Now begins the Co-Creation Phase.

You and Monica will work together in a continuous cycle: you test the app, identify needs, and she implements the solutions until the application meets your specific business goals.

1. The Safe Environment (Preview Mode)

Before publishing your app to end users, you work in a Draft Version. This is your sandbox to test freely without affecting active users.

Important Note on Data:
Data changes made in preview mode are not reflected in the published app, and each table is limited to displaying up to 30 records. This ensures your tests remain fast and don’t pollute your real live database.

2. How to Collaborate with Monica

There is no “one right way” to interact with Monica. She adapts her interface depending on what you need. The background color indicates which mode is currently active:

:blue_circle: Mode 1: The Builder (Standard Execution)

Active when the background is Standard Blue.

When to use: For direct action and specific commands. You act as the architect giving instructions, and she executes.

Direct Execution (“Point-to-Point”)
Use this for quick fixes or adding specific logic.

  • You say: “Monica, add a validation rule to the ‘End Date’ field so it automatically blocks any date selected before the ‘Start Date’.”
  • Monica does: Implements that specific logic immediately, ensuring data consistency.

:orange_circle: Mode 2: Strategic Thinking (Deep Analysis)

You can easily recognize this mode by the Warm/Orange background.

When to use: When you toggle the “Strategic Thinking” option, Monica pauses to think before acting, allowing for complex reasoning.

The Consultant (Strategy)
Best for when you have a high-level goal (e.g., “improve UX” or “add insights”) but want Monica to propose the best solution. Here, you share the “Why” and let Monica figure out the “How”.

  • You say: “Monica, I want to make the dashboard more insightful for sales managers. What charts should we add based on my current data?”
  • Monica does: Analyzes your data structure and proposes a set of relevant visualizations (e.g., “Forecast Chart” or “Top Performers List”) for you to approve.

Gap Analysis (The Systems Architect)
Use this to uncover blind spots. Monica reviews what has been built to find logical holes or missing validations, ensuring your business goal is met.

  • You say: “Monica, review the ‘Corporate Travel App’. Considering the goal is to prevent budget overspending, perform a gap analysis to identify missing controls.”
  • Monica does: She analyzes your project not just as a list of tasks, but as a strategic system. Instead of simply checking for errors, she points out functional voids (e.g., identifying that your app allows bookings but lacks a “Pre-Approval Trigger”), helping you secure the business objective before development even begins.

3. Manual Control (Code Mode)

For developers or users who require granular precision, you can switch to Code Mode. This gives you full access to the underlying logic, allowing for specific CSS tweaks, custom functions, or API adjustments without relying exclusively on the chat interface.

4. The Update Workflow

Whether you are using Direct Execution or Strategic Thinking, the cycle remains simple:

  1. Edit: Collaborate with Monica (or edit code manually) in the Preview Mode.
  2. Preview: Test the changes interactively to ensure everything works as expected.
  3. Publish: Push your verified changes to the Live Version instantly.

5. Ready to Launch? (Publishing)

Once you have iterated enough and your app is ready in the Preview, click Publish.

This activates the Parallel Version System:

  • Draft Version: Where you just did all your work and testing.
  • Live Version: What your end-users actually see and use.

Changes only go live when you hit Publish. In the future, when you need to add updates, you will return to the Draft, co-create changes safely, and only merge them to Live when you are absolutely ready.

Golden Rules for Iteration

To get the most out of these interaction modes:

  • Match the Mode to the Task: Use Standard Mode (:blue_circle:) for quick tweaks, and Strategic Mode (:orange_circle:) for new complex features.
  • Iterate in Rounds: Even when asking for broad strategic changes, validate Monica’s proposal first before asking her to execute.
  • Provide Context: When using Strategic Thinking, feel free to upload files to give Monica more background on your specific business rules.
